Remember, only dumb people take related studies. When I say someone has all 12s, they have all 12s. Take your time, analyze this big block of info. When you are making your report cards think critically. Someone good at engineering would take the EE class. Someone good at jazz tuba would take Jazz band, etc.At my school we have a rigorous grading system. We offer all college board AP classes. The grading system is 1-12. 12 is 98-100%, 11 is 96-97% 10 is 94-95%, 9 is 92-93%, 8 is 90-91%, 7 is 88-89%, 6 is 86-87%, 5 is 80-85%, 4 is 75-79%, 3 is 70-74%, 3 is D, 2 is E, and 1-0 is F. It is a private school. Every AP taken adds a 1% boost to your percentage if they are As. If you get below a 7 you will have to take an intervention class called Related Studies. You get 3 elective classes and extremely rigorous PE everyday with a strict grading system. With PE 9 min and 30 secs is the minimum mile time for a good score, and you must do 30+ push ups and 50+ sit ups. There is a PE intervention class as well, called Physical Intervention. After 2 yrs of normal PE you can take a specialized sport, wrestling, weight lifting, basketball, football, or baseball. The baseball team is very competitive. Freshman go on a graded trip for outdoor education in a national park, and juniors go on an optional trip to the swiss alps for skiing (not graded). Included on the transcript is comparison to rest of school ranked among all of them (like 1, 2, 3... An 100% at a typical school equals a 98% at ours. Extra credit is available for helping teachers and can add up to 1% with teacher approval. Participation in the competitive Varsity Baseball Team also gives a handful of homework passes to excuse homework, usually between 7-12 depending on the player's importance on the team. All grades in the student's 7 classes + PE are added up and divided by the number of classes to come up with the score. Here is the format for the typical senior at the Schouten Academy of Excellence, but everybodies is different. Every student takes APUSH, AP Gov, AP Calc AB or BC, and AP World by graduation: Student Name: [Student Name] Grade Level: 12 Academic Year: [Year] Student ID: [Student ID] Rank: [Rank/Total Students] Academic Summary Subject Grade (%) Grade (1-12) AP Class Extra Credit Adjustments Final Grade with Boost (%) AP English Literature 93 10 Yes +1% 94 AP Calculus AB 95 11 Yes +1% 96 AP Chemistry 88 7 Yes None 88 History of Art 97 11 No +1% 98 Spanish IV 92 9 No +0% 92 AP Environmental Science 90 8 Yes +1% 91 Related Studies (Intervention) 79 4 No None 79 Physical Education 85 5 N/A None 85 Cumulative GPA and Class Rank Cumulative GPA = (Sum of Final Grades) / 8 classes [ = (94 + 96 + 88 + 98 + 92 + 91 + 79 + 85) / 8 = 89.875 ] Cumulative Grade (1-12) = 9 (rounded) Additional Academic Information Total AP Classes Taken: 5 Total Electives: 2 (Spanish IV, History of Art) Extra Credit Hours Earned: [Total Number] Teacher Recommendations Granted: Yes Intervention Classes Taken: Related Studies (1) Related Studies Needs Assessment: [Assessment details if applicable] Physical Education Summary Mile Time: [Time, e.g., 9:10] Push-Ups Completed: [Number, e.g., 32] Sit-Ups Completed: [Number, e.g., 55] PE Grade: 5 Participated in PE Intervention: No Specialized Sport: [Sport Taken if any] Extracurricular Activities Varsity Baseball Team: Yes (Position: [Position, e.g., Pitcher]) Homework Passes Earned: 10 Clubs/Organizations: [List of any clubs, e.g., National Honor Society, Yearbook Committee] Community Service Hours: [Total Hours, e.g., 50] Notable Achievements Awarded: AP Scholar Award (if applicable) Field Trip Leader for Outdoor Education Competitive Achievements: [Any relevant accomplishments in PE or outside of school] Additional Comments Current Interventions Needed: [If any] Future Aspirations: [Brief statement about college or career goals] Teacher Signatures (Approval, usually unapproved if ever found cheating) English Teacher: _______________ (Signature) Math Teacher: _______________ (Signature) Science Teacher: _______________ (Signature) Physical Education Teacher: _______________ (Signature) This format outlines a comprehensive overview of a typical senior at the Schouten Academy of E By the way some extra events to ease stress is: Annual Band Trip to Universal Studios (Everyone in Band in all grades) Annual Orchestra Trip to Disney World (Everyone in Advanced Orchestra) Annual Trip to MLB Game for everyone in baseball, overnight 2 nights at a nice 5 star hotel. I would like to emphasize that related studies classes are not the norm. The best student would get all 12s. 1st in school would get 12s in all classes! When you are creating a report card make it realistic to the person. Include classes off the list here. Think critically. Band is an easy class, but AP Physics C would have worse grades. The top person in the school would have straight 12s.
